GEORGIA: CONCLUSION OF THE E&S SCOPING STUDY IN BATUMI

“Communal Infrastructure Development in the New Batumi Areas” is a project currently under development by the KfW in Batumi, Georgia.

It envisions the upgrade, adjustment and/or extension of the Batumi water and wastewater infrastructure and is interlinked with the Batumi Municipal Infrastructure Rehabilitation Program, which is being assisted by KfW since 2007.
In assistance to the Municipality of Batumi, MACS recently concluded an Environmental and Social scoping study, to preliminarily identify and assess the environmental and social impacts, risks and challenges associated with the Project in line with the new KfW Sustainability Guidelines. The study provided an E&S classification of the Project and outlined the E&S reports and management plans to be developed for the Project as it proceeds.
