Georgia: Improving access to safe water and sanitation in rural Ajara

On February 13, the inception workshop of the Ajara Rural Water Supply and Wastewater Treatment Program took place in Batumi, Georgia.

The Program is financed by KfW and EU and is implemented by the Ajara Water Alliance (AWA), a dedicated company established with MACS assistance by the Ajara government and all Ajara municipalities. The Program, assisted by the MACS led consortium focusing on rural villages and Fichtner, focusing on semi-urban areas started in October 2019. At the inception workshop, with participation of all program stakeholders, the program concept and findings from the inception phase were discussed.
