Last Thursday, MACS presented the KfW Green Economy Facility at the premises of the Chamber of Commerce as part of the second conference "The more you throw away, the more you pay".
Being able to bring a wide variety of stakeholders and institutions together, led by Ministry of Environmental Protection, the Working Group for the Formation of a New Methodology, the Chamber of Commerce, Public Utilities and Local Governments, as well as representatives of the private sector to discuss topics like "the role of local governments and public utility companies in reforming municipal waste tariff systems" and to present the wide variety of currently running development projects is a great way to increase awareness on multiple levels for the options to increase resource efficiency over a across multiple sectors and perspectives.
Financing mechanisms are often the missing link between the public sector and donors, and events like this one contribute to bridging this gap when it comes to sustainable development projects, including sustainable waste management. The Green Economy Facility focuses on providing access for Micro-, Small and Medium Enterprises, but alsocto Public Utilities and Municipalities, for green finance investment support, and participating in similar awareness raising events and workshops is crucial in the support to the Ministry of Environmental Protection to generate interest on the MSME and utility side for the available financing in the related credit lines.
