Romania: Rehabilitation of Historic City Quarters in Timisoara

The cooperation project “Careful Rehabilitation of Historic Quarters of Timisoara“ was supported with a grant by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). All measures were implemented by the Urban Regeneration Unit of the City Hall of Timisoara (Coordination Centre for Rehabilitation of Historic Districts of Timisoara = CCRCIT). Part of this project considered the implementation of several pilot rehabilitation projects. These case studies permitted the setup of management procedure standards as well as technical construction standards and set the framework for the partly parallel implementation of the KfW-funded Program ”Rehabilitation of Historic Monuments in the Historic City Quarters in Timisoara- Municipal Infrastructure Phase II”.

MACS helped to develop procedures which ensure the most efficient use of credit funds during the initial Program implementation period and support the PEA in building capacities for a sustainable continuation of the Program.
