BiH: KfW Low Carbon Energy Facility BIH - Gender Component in the Spotlight

Gender Aspect Training in EE & RE Finance

In April, the importance of the gender dimension in the financial sector was highlighted within the framework of the KfW Low Carbon Energy Facility in Bosnia and Herzegovina. With the support of our gender expert, Ms. Lia Davitadze, two interactive trainings were delivered for the ESG teams of the partner banks — UniCredit Bank d.d. Mostar and Intesa Sanpaolo.

The training on increasing women’s participation in credit lines was successfully delivered, providing participants with a practical understanding of gender-specific barriers and opportunities in financial inclusion. Through interactive discussions, case studies, and hands-on exercises, participants explored women’s financial behaviour, product design, and effective outreach strategies. Particular emphasis was placed on developing gender-sensitive KPIs and using tools such as gender-disaggregated data and Net Promoter Score (NPS) to monitor impact.

The session was well received, with strong engagement from participants, who demonstrated a clear interest in applying these approaches to improve access to finance for women in their institutions.
